A gargantuan creature that prowls the foothills and mountains on the northern edge of Nordheim, between forest and mountain. Few have ever seen the creature and lived to tell the tale, yet it is often blamed by farmers and woodsman for missing livestock and a sudden drop in the population of local game. The legends say the creature hibernates for years at a time, before waking and ravaging local animal populations in a feast that can last for months. Humans too, might fall victim to its ravenous hunger.

The Hyrimyhyrnir of Nordheim is a beast most recognised more by its footprints and destruction than its true appearance. For though the creature is gargantuan in size and can fell a tree in its charge, few have ever seen it, and those that have recall widely differing images of it. The one image that remain consistent throughout was a great beast with fur white like frost, and horns sprouting from its face and skull like some sort of devilish mammoth. Thus it earned its moniker as Frost Horn, and its legend became the scapegoat of many strange and unsavoury occurrences in the land of Nordheim.

Slaughtered livestock, uprooted crops, flattened homes and decimated game populations, all blamed on the mysterious Hrimyhyrnir. Though these occurrences seem to only coincide with every fifth autumn, suggesting a five-year hibernation cycle for the beast, whose occurrences are otherwise minimal outside of these autumns. Thus, every five years in the midst of autumn, offerings are made by villagers to appease the beast, in hopes it will not prey on their livestock or crops instead. Whilst it seems the food is indeed consumed, many argue whether the offerings truly satiate it, as the attacks continue, though some report them to be less severe or frequent than before, whilst others believe it has made no difference.

Regardless, most believe the creature has no evil in its heart, save for its rampant gluttony for its hibernations. Yet all the same, it will consume any amount of living persons to add to its fuel for its long slumber, as human limbs have often been found at sites where livestock and game have been slaughtered. Some village wisemen, however, believe this is a clever way for murderers to dispose of corpses and stage the deaths of their victims, especially in the dark cults of Hel that are beginning to gain such traction in the region.
