Born to a mistress in the bowels of Grimhelm’s opulent Old Town district, Enidus was raised as the illegitimate child of a cutthroat Naval Officer. His tale was one as old as time, though Enidus differed in his father taking a modicum of responsibility for his birth, rather than leaving him to be raised in a bordello among the other whoresons. It was this decision that brought Enidus into Baldur’s military, serving among the Inquisitors.
The lavish bordellos of Grimhelm’s Old Town were the hive of vices for Baldur’s elite military officers: esteemed establishments where wine flowed and the kingdom’s greatest military minds cast away their inhibitions. It was here that Enidus was conceived, the bastard child of Captain Ranius Flinch and his charge-by-the-hour flower, Petulnia. Rather than leave his bastard to the fate of a bordello whoreson, Ranius took full custody of his firstborn, hiding his past from him for his entire childhood, building it upon a lie that his mother perished in childbirth. The truth was concealed until he was a young man, and only Ranius knew the truth of it all, paying for Petulnia to be moved to a bordello in Grimgate, to ensure the truth would always be shrouded.
When the decades of lies were unveiled, Enidus was a young adult studying in the Grimhelm Military Academy, seeking to walk the same path of his father. It was during a celebratory trip to the famous bordello of Old Town, Pretty Things and Pearls that he came to meet the Madame, Octavia. She remarked how Enidus looked familiar to her, yet could not place him. It was only as he spoke further, that Octavia remarked he did not remind her of any soldiers that came to her abode, but of a woman whom she had worked with years past in Grimgate, who bore his same striking eyes of golden honey. When she asked who her father was, Enidus became startled, feeling the foundations of his life crumbling. That night he confronted his father, who told his son the truth. Betrayed and dejected, Enidus fell into a pit of despair for weeks, dropping out of the academy, turning to ale and drunken brawls to ease his sorrow.
After weeks of soul searching at the bottom of a bottle, Enidus decided to strip himself of his father’s name, taking the houseless surname: of Old Town. With that in mind, he reapplied to join Baldur’s armed forces, though not at the glorified kindergarten that was the Military Academy. The Inquisitors were his calling, the military force whose boots were always thick in mud and blood, set out in deadly raids against practitioners of Minera’s Breath and foes to the crown. There he would forge his own name and path, far away from the shadow his father sought for him to follow.
During the Battle of Grimhelm, Enidus was surrounded by death, having come to blows with both rebels and Draksbornian attackers through the city streets. His armour and blade were dripping blood by the time the battle ended, though the city was lost: the rebels taking control with the same Bordello Madame who revealed his true identity taking reign as their de facto leader. A fire burned within him to cut his way through whatever lay between him and her, though his squad was recalled to Grimgate by the King himself, ordered to reinforce the capital following its own assaults. Knighted for his deeds at Grimhelm, Sir Enidus’ duties now solely rest in the capital of Grimgate, where a desperate Order Force is being held up by the remaining military forces in the capital, so many having perished trying to defend Grimhelm. Sir Enidus is installed in a small Order Force squad led by a Justiciar, dedicated to hunting the rebel faction of the Underkeepers: a nationalist gang turned liberators who the Crown suspects is led by a Breath Wielder.
