Owlkin Sorcerer - Hoover Brightfeather

The unintended adoptive son of a Draksbornian mage, Hoover was found to have a strong bond with Minera’s Breath from a young age. Though his father tutored him as best as he could, he ultimately decided that Hoover’s future would best be decided on his own terms, at the University of Canos, as his was as well. Hoover, hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps as a wiseman of the Arcane 

When Harlock Brightfeather purchased an Owlkin egg from a Zandorelite trader, he had intended to use it as an ingredient in his alchemical recipes. He had not expected that it would hatch, and that a healthy chick would emerge from it, one that had become well-imbibed in Minera’s Breath from being so near the arcane experimentations that Harlock had pursued. Thus, he choose to keep the Owlkin chick, naming it Hoover and raising it as his own child. Hoover’s earliest memories were in his father’s lab, ogling at flasks and vials, boiling cauldrons and the illustrations in spell tomes and other books.

Hoover was tutored by his father from the age he could first read spellbooks. Though Harlock intended for his adoptive Owlkin son to follow in his footsteps, he came to an epiphany after Dragonblight had almost claimed their lives. His son should choose his own path, and forge his own bonds, rather than simply walk in his father’s shadow. Thus he was sent to the University of Canos. The only one of his kind there.

Hoover has quickly fit in, attaining a place in House Aurveil, and even securing himself a strong relationship with Professor Vahlen, the head of house. Vahlen has offered tutoring to Hoover, citing an old friendship with his father that he feels compelled to honour.
