Library Golem - The Forbidden Section

The University of Canos does not keep their contraband books under lock and key. They instead are animated in the form of a Golem that would deliver a devastating beating to any students who might be attempting to take them without permission. Its hostilities can be disabled, should the student know the passcode to do so. It changes regularly, however, and only Lady Elara and Headmistress Delacour know the code.

Access to the Forbidden Section of the library is open to any who know the way, but the way is everchanging. Only those who foresee its change may bestow that knowledge onto students and staff who seek it, with the only two being the Headmistress and the Head of Studies. Any who locate the hidden section on their own are welcome to enter it, but will find that it is not the inert hollow that they might have thought. Instead, upon entering, one is given a single chance to recite the password, which changes as often as the rooms location. Should one fail to recite the password, they will find the Forbidden Section comes to life, animated as a hulking golem of tomes, scrolls and shelves that has the authority to clobber them senseless, before dumping them into the middle of the library, much to their embarrassment.

The Forbidden Section does not kill any who dwell within, but it won’t hesitate to use force that borders on deadly, using its own magicks to stabilize those who find themselves in such peril. Whilst encounters with the Forbidden Section are few, those who have met the wrath of the Library Golem lose their appetite for banned books and forbidden knowledge soon after.
