Ardent is a veteran of dozens of skirmishes against the Irinaxi Drow. In doing so, he has earned much favour with the Temple of Glanbeli, and admiration from his peers and the commonfolk among the Glanbelite Drow. His experience has resulted in him being ordained as a general in the war against Irinax, now that it swells to a conflict beyond the skirmishes in the tunnels and villages of the Underground.

Ardent’s life has always been one entwined with the Irinaxi Drow. As a boy, his siblings were taken from his village as tribute for the dark divine, and his parents fled soon after, fearing that they might return to take their last remaining child. Though he could hardly remember the day his siblings were taken, the scar it left on his family never healed. Through childhood he watched his parents crumble beneath the weight of their grief. They had more children to replace those they lost, yet his younger siblings never received the same affection as his deceased elder ones. When his parents eventually took their own lives, Ardent was left to fend for himself, and become the caretaker of his two sisters and single brother.

The only way he could earn security for them was joining the military of Hirika, the city of the Glanbelite Drow. The Temple, in exchange for his pledged loyalty, provided housing and security to his youngest siblings. Ardent’s devotion was driven solely by his resolve to his family, both living and dead. In combat this manifested with an unwavering and zealous fighting spirit, fighting on even through injury and on the verge of death. It was this fervent heart that saw him knighted by Kadna Glydrin, after the battle that claimed his eye.

Now Ardent Silathin is a loyalist to Kadna and the existing Glanbelite Temple, readying himself against the emergent separatist threat of the New Moon. Whilst others may see the New Moon as misguided followers, Ardent sees them for what he believes they truly are: deadly cultists veiling their malicious intent under Glanbeli’s light. He will have no mercy on them when the time comes to draw blades against them, and will treat them as though they were the very cultists of Irinax that tore his family apart. For all he believes, they very well might be.
