The waters by the shore of Westlook are veiled from the sight of Inderimaeth, as Seroca and Quorenderi work in tandem to usher about the return of the Dark Divine of the Deep. Inderimaeth’s Leviathans, the Vosinderi, would normally see a swift end come to whatever evils Mindoriel’s Spawn might conjure in their waters. Yet they are blind to the Elder Shark that now lurks within the waters: a creature large enough to rival even their own might. It has been used to sink many ships near the coast of Westlook, or damage them to force their crew ashore, where they are promptly swallowed up by the town’s cult.

Whilst Inderimaeth’s influence over the waters surrounding Tharador has often kept the creations of Quorenderi at bay, within the small coastal pocket that surrounds Westlook, such evils have been given leave to flourish. Inderimaeth is blind to their propagation, for Seroca’s Shroud over the area leads her to believe it is as mundane as the rest of the waters. In truth, gargantuan beasts such as the Elder Shark lurk: creations of Inderimaeth taken and given shape into repugnant forms: mockeries of the Tharameni’s own.

The Elder Shark is the perfect encapsulation of this. A mundane shark bloated until its size rivalled Inderimaeth’s own leviathans, its form contorting as the malevolence of the dark divine shaped it. Since its inception, it has been used to steer ships sailing around the Open Thumb Peninsular into port at Westlook, either damaging ships under the guise of a storm, or sinking them outright. Many sailors are weary of the sea around the Thumb, knowing it to be a place where many storms fall. None know why though, save for the residents of Westlook who worship the beast as a saint, and child of Quorenderi.
