I’m starting a FALLOUT campaign! My world will be very like, but not quite, the traditional Fallout setting. As such, I wanted some robots that had that ‘Protectron’ feel, but were distinctly my own.

Enter the PlatcoTron Assault Robots. These squat and clunky mechanical bipeds were designed to serve a more martial purpose that typical security bots. The base model, MK1A does sometimes serve that purpose as well, though. It contains two powerful laser blasters set into its hands, and a head-mounted floodlight. The fact that it maintains traditional grasping hands does make it more versatile than later models.

The MK1B is outwardly identical to the 1A, except that it comes stock with a large Laser Blitzer cannon, usually a vehicle-mounted weapon. It can manipulate the weapon with its standard hand grippers, and even put it down, but the weapon charges and fires only through shortwave commands given by the robot –it cannot be used by anyone else.

The MK2B loses the gripping arms completely and replaces them with twin Laser Blitzer cannons. It also features heavier armor in the traditional ‘biped robot weak points’. Finally, the head-mounted flood light has been replaced with a micro-missile launcher.

The MK3B is an exercise in overkill. 2 more slightly smaller Blitzer cannons have been added under the arm mounts, and an additional 2 have been added as shoulder mounts. The micro-missile launcher also gets a small size-upgrade to a mini-missile launcher. The energy requirements for all this firepower is such that the MK3B can really only fire a full volley 2 or 3 times before overheating, but even more armor has been packed on, meaning it can conceivably survive while standing out in a field of hostile fire and going through its cooldown cycle. The added armor does make it the least agile of all the PlatcoTron Assault Robot variants, however (and none of them are agile to begin with).

These models also fit in nicely into the world of Mutant Crawl Classics, and so are part of the Mutant Mayhem Minis line.

The Mutant Mayhem Minis line of figures was designed for Mutant Crawl Classics RPG, but also go great with DCC, Gamma World, D&D or any game that uses 28mm minis.
