The Pillars of the Gatehold mark the threshold where common corridors end and sovereign ground begins, each stout column carved to bear both the weight of stone and the weight of law. Generals pace this platform before war councils, and petitioners once knelt between the pillars to offer tribute to unseen rulers beyond. Even in abandoned keeps, dust gathers carefully around the bases, as if some old etiquette still commands that this threshold remain clear for whatever power might return.
