"What Me Worry?" – Vietnam War U.S. Marine & Captured NVA Soldier

Model: VN181

Scale: 1/30

Finish: Matte

Inspired by an iconic photograph captured by British war photographer Don McCullin during the Battle of Hue in 1968, this dramatic two-figure set depicts a U.S. Marine escorting a captured North Vietnamese soldier. The wounded prisoner, blindfolded and hands bound, is pushed forward by a Marine whose flak jacket features a humorous patch of Alfred E. Neuman—MAD Magazine’s grinning mascot—with the phrase “What Me Worry?” scrawled beneath it. The Marine carries both his own M16 and the prisoner's AK-47, symbolizing the tension, exhaustion, and surreal contrasts often experienced in combat. This poignant vignette offers a powerful snapshot of the Vietnam War’s human dimension.
