Description
Megacerops coloradensis, an extinct genus of large, horned mammals, roamed North America during the Late Eocene epoch, approximately 38 to 33 million years ago.
Resembling a rhinoceros, it was part of the Brontotheriidae family, characterized by a massive body, short legs, and a distinctive pair of blunt, Y-shaped horns on its snout.
These herbivores likely grazed on soft vegetation in subtropical environments.
Despite their imposing size and armor-like appearance, Megacerops species are believed to have been peaceful, possibly using their horns for display or combat during mating rituals.
