As characters approach a village there is nothing that says "fantasy japan" as a dimly lit torii gate showing through the fog. I knew for sure that I wanted one of those in the garden set, and I added a few options with pins, ropes and panels so that you can customize your own. The garden also has small trees as well as planted ones and an array of stone standing lamps which are perfect, for example, to mark the center of pockets of light on a foggy battlefield. Long clawed demons attack from the thick dark fog that lays like grim snow on the path. Characters have to stand close to the flickering candle inside these blessed lamps. Dying shrines of light against the cruelty of the yokais. That sounds like a good setup for a fight to me! There are also walls of stones - useful to design pathways or garden enclosures - and stylized standing stones that can represent local decorations, land spirits, stone elemental worship, and so on! It is a stereotype, but I couldn't stop from putting some vaguely Ghibli inspired pieces in this.
