Volunteer Company

The Volunteer Company of Rabenstadt is comprised of ordinary men: tradesmen, traders, farmers, and adventurers, who received a call from the noble houses to take up arms to defend their city. They lack the uniformly trained troops and standard equipment of professional soldiers; each simply brings what he possesses, which can range from an old family heirloom sword to a rusted arquebus, and from an improvised pike to a butcher's cleaver. Their true strength is their resolve and civic virtue, not discipline. When they march behind the banners of Rabenstadt, they do so out of love of their families, faith or a desire for glory, affirming that even the poorest of men can become a warrior when called by their duty.
