Lake Peipus 1242 - The Duel

Description

The Battle of Lake Peipus in 1242, also known as the Battle on the Ice, was a pivotal clash between the Teutonic Knights, Danish vassals, and the forces of the Republic of Novgorod, led by Prince Alexander Nevsky. Fought on the frozen lake, the Teutonic Knights and their allies attempted to extend their influence into Novgorod territory, but Nevsky's forces, including Novgorod militia and cavalry, countered with strategic brilliance. The icy battleground played a critical role, as the heavily armored Teutonic knights became vulnerable on the treacherous surface, leading to a decisive Novgorod victory that halted further northern Crusader advances.

This small scene captures a small part of the battle, a duel between a mounted Teutonic Knight and a mounted warrior from Novgorod. Shields and base are separate.
