M4A3E2 "jumbo" Sherman - American Assault Tank - 1/72 Scale

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of a 75mm equipped M4A3E2 "Jumbo" Sherman. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

Historical Description:
The M4 Sherman was an iconic medium tank used throughout World War 2 by the Allies. The vehicle saw constant upgrades throughout the war, with armaments ranging from a low velocity 75mm cannon on the original versions, to the more powerful 76.2mm cannons found on later examples, with some versions even mounting 105mm Howitzers. This model represents the M4A3E2 breakthrough variant featuring the 75mm cannon. The M4A3E2 "Jumbo" Sherman was a drastically up-armored version, featuring an additional 1.5" (38.1mm) of armor on the front and sides of the hull. The turret was also up-armored considerably, reaching 7" (177.8mm) on the gun shield allowing the vehicle to survive hits from most axis armaments. The vehicle came in two main flavors, the 75mm equipped version, and the 76mm equipped version. The 75mm was considered to have better high explosive and thus infantry support performance, whereas the 76 could defeat opposing tanks more easily due to increased penetration power from the longer barrel.
 
The Sherman was the most common tank fielded by American forces throughout World War 2, with almost 50,000 examples being built between the different versions. The vehicle was an effective infantry support vehicle, and while overshadowed by vehicles like the Tiger and Panther, was far more impactful due to how many more were present. The Sherman was no slouch, which can be seen in the Pacific Theater where its competition was less sophisticated, making the Sherman better armored, and armed than anything it was likely to come across.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the M4A3E2 (75) is a well-armored heavy tank with a relatively weak cannon. The vehicle is slower than a standard Sherman due to the extra weight but is significantly more armored and defend against hits from cannons which would slice through the regular variants. The 75mm does have decent damage, though the penetration power leaves something to be desired. This means that while the vehicle can survive engagements with enemy tanks, they may survive too.
