Panzer Iv Ausf G German Medium Tank - 1/72 Scale

Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of a mid-war version of the Panzer IV, the Panzer IV AusF G, featuring among other characteristic features, the long-barreled 7,5cm L/43 cannon and add-on plates for the front-glacis. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

Historical Description:
The Panzer IV was originally designed as an infantry-support vehicle, meant to engage fortifications and other softer targets with high-explosive ammunition. The vehicle was rapidly up-gunned and up-armored to be used as a battle tank, a role originally filled by the Panzer III. The earlier models (A-F1) featured the 7,5cm KwK 37 L/24 howitzer. As time went on the vehicle was progressively upgraded with increased armoring and long barreled 7,5cm cannons. The up gunning culminated with the 7,5cm L/48 cannon seen on the H and J variants.
 
The Panzer IV AusF G is one of the more recognizable versions of the vehicle. It mounts the long-barreled 75mm L/43 cannon, though still shorter than the L/48 found on the H and J variants. The vehicle was the first version of the Panzer IV to have the frontal armor increased to 80mm, though it still lacks the skirts which were iconic on later versions.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the Panzer IV AusF G provides a sturdier alternative to the Panzer IV AusF F2, while retaining the gun and mobility from its predecessor. The frontal armor is 80mm thick, which can stop smaller armaments. The vehicle also possesses a very potent cannon, having good piercing and damage characteristics. The vehicle is the primary battle tank for German forces, comparable to late T-34 and M4 Sherman units.
