The Half-Elf Headmistress of the University of Canos, having replaced her predecessor who perished during the Dragonblight. Margaux Delecour is faced with the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding the University from the ground up, for much of it was left to rubble during the plague, with Bastian the Everknowing using it as his final fortress as he proliferated the disease through the city. More difficult than that, is rebuilding the staff and student bodies in a kingdom that lost millions of people in only months.

A half-elf raised in the fringes of Draksborne’s society, where half-kin are regarded in the same esteem as vagabonds and lowlives. Margaux from birth was raised as a bastard, her Elven father having fled certain death from the mob that scorned him, and the newborn babe’s life only spared by the tenacious insistence of her mother. Life for her was destined to be cruel and an incessant test of will. Hope came to her, in an unexpected manner, however. At the cusp of womanhood, she awoke to arcane powers buried deep within her, and held such an aptitude for them that her mother insisted she apply to the University of Canos, in hopes they may take her with a scholarship. That was some thirty years ago now, and Margaux remained at the University as a member of its faculty long after she graduated, teaching evocation magic, as well as the perils of necromancy.

When the blood soaked streets of Canos were finally freed of the cursed Dragonblight, Margaux was among the first to return to the University. Stepping through rubble and piles of gore, she found the signet ring of Headmaster Lorian, its platinum band glimmering pristine and unmarred amongst the destruction that surrounded it. She knew as she saw it, that he had perished to the blight. Yet as her fingers glanced its cool band, a voice whispered out to her, the voice of Lorian. He told her that indeed he had perished, yet a piece of his soul, like all Headmasters before him, was bound within the Headmaster’s signet ring. By finding it, the prior Headmasters believed she was destined to become its new bearer, and the new Headmaster of the University in this time of peril.

Wearing the ring, Lorian was able to help her find his will, amending it to instate her as Headmaster and write his own signature, declaring her as his successor. Since then, she has taken charge of the University, faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of rebuilding it from ruin. Yet two years on, the University, at least on the surface, seems to be returned to its former glory after the ruin it was brought to years before. Though in that time, the whispers of her predecessors have begun to burrow deeper and deeper into her consciousness. They whisper to her now of ways to rebirth them all, bringing the greatest arcane minds Minera has ever seen back to life, to continue their greatness, she need only find each of them a phylactery. Whilst she pushes and resists the voices in her head, her affinity for the school of necromancy, even if forbidden, is growing stronger. No longer does she worry for its dangers, but now relishes the thoughts of its opportunities.
