Welcome to the scorched underbelly of New Gobbletown — a city of crumbling walls, flickering neon, and smog-thick air that tastes like soot and regret. In its darkest corners, where the streetlamps never work and ash clings to every surface, a fire rises — not for warmth, but for reckoning. These are the Emberhowls, a fire cult turned gang, or maybe a gang turned fire cult. Depends who’s asking — and how flammable they are.
Born in the aftermath of the Gasworks Riots, the Emberhowls believe the city must burn before it can be born anew. They don’t crave power. They crave purge. They see themselves as chosen kindling — fanatics with flint in their veins and smoke in their lungs. Wherever they tread, paint peels, heat warps, and fear spreads like wildfire.
At the center of the inferno stands Blazetail Bragg, The Flame Reaper. Crowned in living fire, wielding a scythe that arcs like a crescent of pure ruin, Bragg is more than a leader — he’s a prophecy in motion. With every word he speaks, sparks dance on his breath, and the faithful howl in rapture.
Ashka Burnspite, The Crownbreaker, is his flame-forged hammer. Blunt, brutal, and unyielding, she enforces Bragg’s will with a blazing sword and a shield of charred skulls. Many have mistaken her silence for mercy — none have made that mistake twice.
Skorgg Chainblaze, Keeper of the Laughing Pyre, is the cult’s fire-jester and punishment dealer. Chained to a sentient flame-skull, he cackles through sermons of pain and purification, doling out lessons that leave scorch marks and screams in their wake.
Tragg the Brandwright ensures loyalty runs skin-deep. Armed with ritual irons and a twisted sense of artistry, he brands the Emberhowl creed into goblin flesh, turning bodies into billboards of blazing devotion.
Smirkblight the Kindlekin is their youngest — a spark-souled runt with a manic grin and torches always in hand. What he lacks in stature, he makes up for in arson. If something’s on fire and shouldn’t be, odds are he lit it and is watching from a rooftop, giggling.
And preaching the word of the flame is Ignar Vox, The Flame-Tongued — high-priest of cinders and saint of smoke. With robes ever-singed and sermons ever-burning, he stokes the gang’s fanaticism with doomsday promises and poetic threats.
Together, they are an emberstorm on legs — terrifying, theatrical, and totally devoted. New Gobbletown’s brass call them terrorists. The gutters call them gods. One thing’s certain: when the Emberhowls arrive, everything burns.
