Nosmeni from the Second Reverie of Hatred brought to the mortal plane in a desperate bid to halt the reconstruction of Namneri’s Chalice. They are all lost souls ensnared in the web of Nosmarka’s Abyss, many having only been lost and reborn as Nosmeni recently after the destruction of the Chalice.
Nosmeni were usually those whose souls for doomed to wander beyond the sanctuary of Syelden. Having spent their afterlife instead wandering the spiritual plains, lost and in limbo. Yet a beacon would call to them from afar, a warm glowing fire in a bastion of abyssal darkness. The souls that heeded this beacon’s call would find themselves ensnared: trapped within Nosmarka’s Nocturnal Abyss, and its Ten Reveries of Hell. In the last three months, with the destruction of Namneri’s Chalice, the number of souls ensnared by the Abyss and reborn as Nosmeni has surged. With no vessel to hold any lost souls, both the wicked and devout have found themselves reborn as Nosmeni, ignorant of their past lives and knowing nothing but suffering inflicted upon them by Nosmarka’s demonic host.
This affliction grooms them for war, rousing naught but hatred, animosity and antagonism in their hearts. Like dogs of war they are set loose upon the enemies of the Abyss, thrown through portals that close after mere moments, sent to die but to inflict their own pains upon the citizens of Tharador before they perish themselves. When they do perish, with the Chalice gone, they will simply be reborn in the hells again, and the cycle will continue, for once Nosmarka claims one’s soul, she seldom lets it slip from her grasp. Similarly, any foes they slay will be left wandering the spirit plains as well, and for many they will join in this cycle of suffering thereafter.
Thus, it has become the favour of some of the Tharameni’s devout to instead imprison or disable the Nosmeni brought up from the Abyss, relegating them to a place where they’ll slowly fade away instead of being quickly sent back to the Reveries. Though such a luxury is not always pertinent, and simply beheading the enemy may be the quickest solution to save themselves from becoming a Nosmeni as well.
