Perched atop Beckett Rock and looming over Grimhelm like an iron sentinel, Lion’s Den Citadel has stood as the military heart of Baldur for centuries. A towering testament to Baldurian might, the fortress is an unyielding labyrinth of reinforced stone, tiered battlements, and cannon-laden turrets that once made naval sieges an impossibility. But time and war have not been kind to the citadel. Now, with the city embroiled in rebellion and Draksborne’s fleet encircling the Grey Sea, the fortress has suffered its first true wounds.

What was once an impregnable stronghold now bears the scars of war. The eastern ramparts have taken the brunt of Draksborne’s bombardments, with shattered merlons and crumbling defenses leaving gaps in the once flawless curtain wall. Smoking craters pockmark the parapets where cannons once stood, and the halls within grow darker by the day, lit only by the wavering glow of torches as Baldur’s military prepares for the worst.

Yet it is not only steel and stone that make the citadel formidable. Beneath its hallowed halls lie the forgotten depths of Project Glass Ceiling: sealed chambers where Baldur’s most secretive experiments were conducted in the name of strength and supremacy. These subterranean blacksites, once teeming with researchers and containment units, were long abandoned after the coup attempt that nearly exposed their horrors. But with the city under siege, whispers have begun to spread of something stirring in the dark.

With rebellion on its doorstep and warships at its shores, Lion’s Den Citadel stands at the precipice of destruction or salvation, and should it be the former, the rest of Baldur is sure to follow it.
