When the Eldraeth first brought Vaezirak to the plane of Minera, other creatures were transported as collateral through the Web of Worlds. The monstrosity that the Drow now call Mantharak is one of those, an abominable meld of flesh and bone animated through pain and suffering, its soul imbued with a burning hatred of whatever it beholds. Though it holds no love for Vaezirak or his disciples, they have found a way to weaponize its unbridled hatred against their own foes.
Mantharak was a lost, forlorn monstrosity that had wandered the Web of Worlds for decades. Whether it was a victim to some parallel form of Eldraeth or another sonic ailment is unclear, though either way the flesh heap stepped foot in Minera behind Vaezirak as he opened the doorway to the untouched plane. Whilst Vaezirak is a creature bound to the will of Eldraeth, serving a focused purpose, Mantharak is one of rage and anger, bound by nothing but bloodlust.
When it first emerged beneath the swamps of Lo Fuin, it was a far throw from the web that Vaezirak had emerged from. It thus fell into its own devices, namely the slaughter of any creatures or Drow unfortunate enough to cross its path. Both on the surface and in the depths below it has wreaked havoc for a month, and with every slain creature, its own glutinous, decrepit form bulges. Rumours have begun to circulate through Glanbelite settlements of a monstrous creature grafted from man, bear and stag, but many have chalked this up to superstition.
