A devout exactor of Erdrydion’s Justice, Jeanne is one of the most respected members of her order in her homeland of Greypeak. Despite her age, she has led many conquests against the dark forces of Mindoriel that pervade her homeland. She was among the first to storm the walls of Strassen, at the age of only nineteen. Four years later she would lead her own army into the halls of Castle Beaufax, eviscerating the vampiric menace that had bred there. Now she is one of the commanders leading the Church of the Tharameni into Sudd Tohst, commanding admiration and respect from all who follow her.
Born to a peasant farmer and the eldest of five children. Jeanne’s family tilled the land that hugged the shore of Greypeak’s Lake Weil. She was often tasked as both caretaker and matriarch of her family even in her youth, with her mother frequently experiencing bouts of illness that would span seasons. Such a responsibility weighed heavily on the young Jeanne, who knew if she did not rise to the needs of her family, their starvation could be the consequence. Through prayer and faith alone, Jeanne persevered through her toiling younger years, finding solace in the Tharameni, particularly Erdrydion who was the family’s primary patron.
As Jeanne grew older, she frequently experienced visions and dreams that she claimed were invoked by Erdyrydion, encouraging her to take up the sword in his name. She was sent to the city of Strassen, where on her arrival she found a siege camp already constructed by a large order of Erdrydion’s Paladins, who claimed the city’s nobles were in fact spawns of Myrothlir: vampires who had enthralled the populace. Seeing her visions now as prophecies, Jeanne announced herself to the paladins, though was met with much scepticism. The paladins had hoped to weaken the vampires or wait to attack in daylight, yet it had not come in months. Every day passed was a day of slaughtered citizens to continue satiating the vampire’s thirst. Jeanne could not stand to be so idle. She liberated a sword from a nearby fallen soldier, and in her father’s loose hauberk, commanded a small band of loyal followers she had won over to mount a siege ladder, storming the wall thereafter.
By divine grace, her sword was imbued with Erdrydion’s righteousness as she climbed, her body shielded by his favour. Two vampires turned to dust as they charged at her, and those on the ground saw it as a sign: she was chosen by the Divine. The assault on Strassen begun, with the vampires ultimately chased out of the city, and Jeanne’s family giving nobility status by the King for her actions soon after, anointed the du Lac family. Since that day, she has become a central figure in the Church of the Tharameni, and a folk hero in Greypeak. She continued to cement her legacy in leading her own army against Castle Beaufax, another vampire coven that had enthralled its people. Now the Church calls for her services far from home: in the sands of Sudd Tohst. With whisperings of Myrothlir there, Jeanne du Lac is asked to lead a multifaceted Church warband into the desert to uncover what evil has festered, and eliminate it.
