Extract from the diary of captain Thomas Cochrane, on an unnamed island off the coast of Portugal, 01. July 1803
"Mr. Slater and Mr. Bonden are dead. The doctor and I made it back on board, and only god knows what happened to poor Thomas and Mr. Edwards. If they are still alive, we are unable to help them. Even worse, we are abandoning them, for we are setting sails as I write these lines. The admiralty needs to be warned as quickly as possible, but to no one else we will speak of what we saw in that cave."
