Description

Kubanochoerus gigas was a giant extinct pig that lived during the Miocene epoch, around 15–7 million years ago, in Eurasia.

It was among the largest members of its group, with a robust body and an imposing head.

One of its most distinctive features was a long bony protuberance or horn-like structure on its forehead, the purpose of which remains debated—it may have been used for display, dominance contests, or species recognition.

Like modern wild boars, Kubanochoerus was an omnivore, likely feeding on roots, fruits, and small animals.

Its unusual anatomy makes it a fascinating example of pig evolution.
