Part of Tribes and Patreon December 2025 release.
This set is a bundle that contains these sets:
- Dragon Hunters Cart Objects and Props
- Dragon Hunters Cart Structure
- Dragon Hunters Cart Arcane Engine
- Dragon Hunters Cart Ballista
All the models are test printed and presupported when needed.
- Dragon Hunter Cart/Hut Structure. It has a main body and a modular front and back, as well as two roofs options: one with a platform for the ballista (or any other use you may envision) or a straightforward roof. All of that surface is covered with dragon skin and scale: after all, the easiest way to protect again dragon breaths is to use their own skin - but you can paint and picture that to be basically any monster skin you like. The wood? That's iron wood, cured to be resistant to fire and acid - or something like that, you know, if you have that kind of player at the table!
I designed this cart to look, in a way, like a moving house partially because I liked the look and partially because it made the set usable in a totally different way. If you don't place the structure on the wheel racks (there are two options for those too!) you can use it as a large hut, and if you print more than one pieces of fronts and backs you can make several small buildings for some kind of wood and skin wilderness village. And when you want to use them as a cart you'd just need to put them on the wheels, and they'd work! If you like the look you can even print the hooks and chains to connect as many carts as you want to make a whole caravan. The ladders and doors needed to complete the whole thing are also in there. Finally, it is magnetized for easier use at the table and has channels for rods to help with assembly, but glue will be needed (more on that in the instructions.)
I love small more stand-alone sets like this, especially when combined with objects from other releases: I can picture it as a witch hut, as a small outpost of barbarians of the wilderness or as a magically moving small tavern (it is covered in dragon skin after all!). More to its intended theme: it could be used as a base for characters to go hunting monsters, or as a cart found abandoned in a random encounter on the road (what took all the hunters out?) or parked in a dragon hunters camp. What if they found a fertilized dragon egg? What if the characters are sent to steal it from them? Or steal it back for its wounded parents!
- Dragon Hunters Object and Props. A huge set of stylized objects and props that monster hunting teams on a moving cart would need. You can find fire-repelling masks and shields, large crossbows and potion throwers, huge hammers and chisels to crack open scaly skins, as well as small and large bomb-potions. There is also gear to make and maintain the tools and darts needed for hunting monsters, as well as cages and chests to contain parts of the prey - and eggs!
The sets comes also with two large traps. Are dragons really falling for those? I don't think so, but I can see them being used to trap other unintelligent monsters such as wyverns, trolls, or even giants! I can even picture characters running to save and befriend some captured and unexpected monster in there if you like that kind of cute vibes.
- Dragon Hunters Ballista. This is a simple set, containing a huge rotating ballista with a magnetized stand and a large array of darts. You can print this as a classic siege weapon or as a more exotic version with a dragon skull on the front, in case you like the high fantasy look. It is huge and meant to be manned by two creatures for rotation and rope tightening, and two more for loading it.
- Steampunk Cart Engine. This is another simple accessory set, containing a central engine, vents, channels, plinths and more. Since making a creature to move the cart was beyond the scope of this release (also, very few creatures would stand still with a dragon charging towards them!), I wanted to make some kind of arcane engine to make the whole thing make sense (thanks, Magic!). I went for a mix of wood and metal for these contraptions so that they would fit in a low-tech steampunk-ish arcane fantasy setting. I don't have a clear cut explanation of what part does what for propelling the cart, but I'd leave that to improvisation in session if players ask: anything can work here, it is magic after all :)
This is one of those sets where versatility was my main aim: you can use the command panel, the wheels, the vents and the other different contraptions to make many fantasy techy combat puzzles (wheels need turning, buttons need pressing, etc..) while the domes and channels are nice things to break as collateral damage from large area spell, missed attacks and the like. All of these parts can be used to make fights more interactive and interesting, which I find is the best function of printed terrain.
