Unofficially, every soldier knows the rumors.

When desertion began to spread across the front lines, High Command authorized a classified program known only as Project GIANT. Captured deserters were not executed, they were repurposed. Subjected to forced augmentation, experimental serums, bone reinforcement, and controlled hormonal conditioning, the deserters emerged transformed into towering, overmuscled brutes with the strength of beasts and the obedience of trained hounds.

Most of their memories were wiped.
What remained was rage, loyalty, and an instinctive fear of displeasing their handlers.
