Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of an early-production Panzer I AusF A, with the shorter hull configuration. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).
Historical Description:
The Panzer I was originally designed as a training tank for the German army, meant to prepare crews for heavier vehicles. The vehicle did end up seeing combat during World War 2 despite its original purpose. Experience with the vehicle helped shape the concept of the blitzkrieg. The vehicle was equipped with a pair of MG 13 machine guns mounted in the turret. The armor on the vehicle was very thin and offered protection only against light small arms fire.
The Panzer I AusF A was the initial version of the Panzer I, distinguishable by the shorter hull and the corresponding idler wheel configuration. The Panzer I AusF B would have the same superstructure and turret but was lengthened with a more powerful engine mounted.
In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the Panzer I Ausf A is a cheap MG platform to combat infantry units when it can be protected from AT weaponry. In scenarios where the opponent can field any type of armor against it, the vehicle will be destroyed easily.
