Description
Stegodon ganesha was a prehistoric elephant-like proboscidean that lived during the Pliocene and Pleistocene epochs in South and Southeast Asia.
It belonged to the Stegodon genus, which is considered an evolutionary link between primitive elephants and modern-day elephants.
Stegodon ganesha was characterized by its long, nearly straight tusks and massive size, with some individuals reaching up to 4 meters in shoulder height.
Fossils have been found in India and surrounding regions, indicating it thrived in forested environments.
