Description
Daspletosaurus torosus was a large tyrannosaurid theropod that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 77–74 million years ago, in what is now North America.
Closely related to Tyrannosaurus rex, it measured up to 9 meters (30 feet) in length and weighed around 3–4 tons.
It had a massive skull with powerful jaws filled with serrated teeth, adapted for crushing bone.
As an apex predator, Daspletosaurus torosus likely preyed on large herbivores like ceratopsians and hadrosaurs. Fossils have been found in Alberta, Canada.
